Classic Men's Hairstyles

In this time of fleeting fashions and fly by night trends, many men are considering an update to their hairstyle. Unfortunately, being trendy does not necessarily mean that your hairstyle is fashionable, and depending on your line of work, flashy or trendy hairstyles may even cross the line into the realm of actually being inappropriate. Luckily, there are dozens of classic men’s hairstyles that can be worn by virtually anyone, and which are always appropriate. What’s more, if you have a great cut, you may be able to style it into any number of classic hairstyles as well as dress it down into something more trendy and/or casual as well.

Among the most popular classic men’s hairstyles are those that are often referred to as “classic Hollywood hairstyles”. These are the types or hairstyles that were worn and made popular by classic, old-Hollywood actors such as Cary Grant, Humphrey Bogart, James Dean and Sean Connery. Of course, while each of these hairstyles were the virtual signature styles of the men who wore them, it is important to keep in mind that not every hairstyle is universally flattering. This means that it is important to take into consideration your personal physical attributes, such as your face shape and the size and orientation of your facial features, when choosing which classic men’s hairstyles may be most flattering on you, personally.

Depending on the length, thickness, and texture of your hair, there may be several different classic men’s hairstyles that are equally flattering and appropriate for your hair and lifestyle. In these situations, it is important to pick the style that is most compatible with your own personality, as long as it is a style that you feel comfortable styling on a daily basis as well as one that you can see yourself maintaining. This is of even more importance if you are considering a style that requires a fairly consistent length, as you will have to be diligent in your haircuts to ensure that your chosen style is able to be properly maintained at home. Another important factor that many men struggle with when looking into classic men’s hairstyles is the amount of time any particular style will take to manage on a daily basis. It is important to choose the hairstyle that fits into your daily schedule.

Trendy 2009 Fashion Hair Trend: Braided Hair

Braided hair been one of the most obvious beauty trends this year. People seem to have a love-hate relationship with it -some people think it's pretty and some think it's just too cutesy. For most part, I think braids is a cute way to add some girliness to ones hairstyle, but it really depends on how you do it and whether it suits the rest of your look.
Braided Hair

fashion hairstyleThe celebrity that has been sporting braids the most seems to be Lauren Conrad. And if you know Lauren's usual style (-very girly,) then you would probably agree that the braids really suit Lauren.

Fashion Hair Trend

fashion hairstyleThe basic way seems to be braiding the front bit of your hair and pull the briad to one side, and tie all your hair up into a pony tail. Look how well the braid goes with Lauren's style!
And she even manages to use the braid to glam up her whole hairstlye and look.
fashion hairstyleNicole Richie uses the braids to complement her boho, LA style.
fashion hairstyleThen there's the braided up-do.
fashion hairstyleI have to admit I think this hairstyle really doesn't suit Gwen Stefani. It looks so complicated and just... weird on her.
fashion hairstyleI love the way Rachel wore the braid. She manages to wear the braid without looking overly girly, keeping her casual and trendy look.
Despite how cute I think the braid is, I still haven't tried it out yet. It's probably because I don't want to look like I'm 14, but mostly because it requires some effort to pull together (as opposed to doing nothing.) What do you think of the braid trend? Have you tried it?

How to Get Thicker Hair - Make Your Thin Hair Thicker

There are literally hundreds of products out there that promise men thicker, fuller hair. Of course, as many men struggling with thinning hair can tell you, most of these products don’t do what they promise. At least not for everybody – and therein lies the problem. The fact of the matter is that there is no single product or method that has been proven to be 100% effective for men who are wondering how to get thicker hair. However, that does not mean that those who are suffering from hair loss should throw in the towel. It is still possible to find a product that can help you get thicker hair; the process may just require a little trial and error.

If you are among those who have wondered how to get thicker hair, you may want to try some of the popular fallback products first. That is because most of these products provide fairly good, marked results, for many of their users. Among these products are Rogain, Propecia, and Nioxin, and depending on the severity of your thinning hair, any one of them may offer the results you desire. If you prefer, you may wish to look into one of the many herbal products that promise to give you thicker hair. Depending on the product, they may either claim to promote the growth of new hair, or they may promise to make the hair shafts that you already have become physically thicker.

There are other answers to the question of how to get thicker hair, however. For example, one way to ensure that your hair remains its thickest for as long as possible is to simple take good care of it. This could be as simple as using high quality shampoos and conditioners, and combing rather than brushing. Additionally, incorporating deep conditioning or anti-breakage treatments into your hair care regimen may cause your hair to appear thicker and fuller. This is because split ends and breakage can really contribute to overall hair loss.

Spiral Perm Hairstyles

2009, 2010 Spiral Perm Hairstyles

Spiral perms were all the rage back in the 1980’s. Today they are making a comeback and if they are done correctly, a spiral pem can be truly beautiful. A badly done spiral perm will leave you looking like you just stuck your finger in a light socket, so make sure you go to a reputable stylist. Spiral perms make a woman look saucy, flirty, and extremely sexy.
The name spiral comes from how the hair is permed. Traditional perms use small rollers and your hair is rolled horizontally. A spiral perm uses long, slender rollers and your hair is rolled vertically, from the ends to your scalp, in a corkscrew fashion, hence the name “spiral”. Depending on the size of the vertical roller, your curls can be loose or extremely tight. You are not limited to always having one particular curly hairstyle when you get a spiral perm. Use a hairdryer with a diffuser to dry your curly hair and one without if you want to blow-dry it straight. Straightening your hair with a hairdryer will leave it appearing thicker and full of body; your curls will come right back when you wash your hair again. You can even use the diffuser for a little bit longer than it takes to dry your hair to change your hairstyle into attractive waves. Add some hair gel and you can scrunch your hair into even tighter ringlets for yet another look.
Spiral perms can cost almost twice as much as a regular perm. This is because they look best on longer hair and require more work. You could try giving yourself a spiral perm but you run the risk of a frizzy perm, and since spiral perms last months longer than a normal perm, you may not want to risk that. Also, remember to be careful after you get your spiral perm – use lots of conditioning products (perms dry out hair) and avoid any hair products that have alcohol in them. Alcohol will make the drying much worse. And if your hair is not in good condition, stay away from any type of perm or you’ll look like a dust bunny rather than a sexy woman.

Men's Taper Fade Haircuts

Shemar Moore taper tade haircut

If you are a guy, chances are you have or have had a taper fade haircut at least once in your life. These popular men’s haircuts are performed with the use of electric hair clippers, and they are among the most requested types of men’s haircuts in salons and barber shops the world over. A taper fade haircut is essentially a haircut in which the length of the hair either decreases or increases gradually, generally featuring longer hair on top that gradually tapers and fades to much shorter hair along the neck line and above the ears.

While taper fade haircuts can be achieved at home by using virtually any electric hair clippers (most of which come with attachment guides to easily control the length in which you cut your hair), the fact of the matter is that taper fade haircuts have become something of an art form in many communities, and a trained hairstylist or barber can often provide cleaner lines and a far more polished, professional and put together overall look than most people can achieve on their own.

Taper fade haircuts are among the most popular haircuts for men for a number of reasons, not the least of which being that they are so extremely versatile. They can be modified in dozens (if not hundreds) of ways, allowing for easy customization and personalization of a classic style. This means that any man can easily put his own twist or flavor into this classic style. Some of the most popular modifications of the taper fade haircuts include such things as asymmetrical lines in the back, splashes of color, and longer than is traditional hair on top. In fact, the taper fade haircut is often the starting point of such edgy, trendy haircuts as the faux hawk.

In reality, the taper fade haircut is a quintessential men’s trademark. It is almost universally favored among men and women of all ages, and in its most traditional forms, it is a fallback that any man can turn to in order to ensure that his haircut is both fashionable and appropriate. Any barber or hair stylist worth their salt will be able to hook you up with a perfectly executed taper fade haircut; or you can try your hand at doing the job yourself. There are dozens of DVD tutorials on the market that can start you off in the right direction. Here is one of them:
